Danté Wong was among 16 students selected to represent Greater Vancouver at the Canada Wide Science Fair in Montréal May 14-21, 2016. He was competing along with 500 other students from across Canada. Danté’s project “An untapped source of energy: Creating a water hammer arrestor/energy harvester” earned him a bronze medal, a $1,000 entrance scholarship to the University of Ottawa and a $1,000 entrance scholarship to Western University. A highlight of the week was astronaut Commander Chris Hadfield’s inspiring keynote presentation to the students to keep exploring their interest in science. In addition to the science fair, the Montréal organizers ensured the students had a fabulous time exploring historic Montréal, tasting the foods of Québec, and socializing with other students from across Canada.
